Free Vinyl Noise Sounds
Vinyl Noise SFX is a collection of vinyl noise recordings. Chia captured the raw audio from his turntable, resulting in an authentic audio collection of vinyl crackle sounds, noise pops, and other vinyl sonic imperfections that we’ve all grown to love.
You can use the sounds for layering on top of author recordings to emulate the vinyl sound. They can also work as a noise source for further sound design work.
What is Vinyl Noise?
Vinyl noise is the characteristic sound you hear when playing the silent part of a vinyl record. It is also called “vinyl crackle” or “record hiss.”
This noise is typically a combination of pops, crackles, hisses, and other static-like sounds that are produced by physical imperfections in the vinyl record or dust and other debris in the record grooves.
During the golden age of vinyl records, these sounds were often seen as a nuisance or a sign of damaged or worn-out audio equipment.
However, the recent revival of vintage audio equipment and lo-fi music made vinyl noise a popular sound effect. Many people now associate the sound of vinyl noise with a warm, authentic, and vintage audio experience that digital formats don’t replicate.
How can you use Vinyl Noise in your projects?
You can use vinyl noise as a creative sound effect to add a layer of warmth and nostalgia to your tracks.
To get started, download our free Vinyl Noise sound effects and import them into your DAW. Load the vinyl noise on a separate audio track and reduce its volume.
Vinyl noise is typically quite subtle, so you’ll usually want to keep the level fairly low. The goal is to make it just noticeable enough that it adds texture and warmth without distracting from the main elements of the mix.
The Artist
Chia is a DJ and producer from Oregon who decided to digitize his vinyl collection and came up with this cool set of vinyl noise samples during the process.

Cheers!
This is a great product. Dude could have easily charged for this. Better than any vinyl emulation plug i’ve used. I like using the kontakt instrument that’s included.
Awesome sample library! Since I don’t have a turntable, this is extremely helpful! Appreciate the post!
