Sound Design Tools

Sound Design Tools is an extensive free library of foley sounds, futuristic sound effects, glitch samples, and drum loops created by Gavin Thibodeau, aka Embra.

The Library

From the mechanical sounds of hydraulic engines and percussive ice crackles to noisy dubstep loops and abstract sonic textures, this free sound collection features 360 high-quality samples for your sound design and music production endeavors.

Use the included sounds as provided, or take them one step further by adding your own sound design twist.

All of the sounds in the pack were made by experimenting with synths or foley samples. Those elements were manipulated with various plugins (primarily Reaktor) and bounced down in Ableton Live 8.

Gavin used Twisted Tools S-Layer for many of these sounds, some even barely processed. Glitchmachines Fracture and Inear Display plugins came especially useful in the Bits and Pieces section.

The pack was started in about December 2013, and in about June, there was already a collection of 300+ cool sounds to tinker with.

The Artist

Gavin Thibodeau is a sound designer based in Stafford, USA. He worked on this sample library for over six months, using Ableton Live and a range of 3rd party sound design tools.

Technical Details

Sound Design Tools contains 324 audio samples and 36 drum loops in 24-bit WAV format. The samples are sorted into different folders by type. All included samples have been designed and processed by Gavin Thibodeau.

The library contains one Reaktor sample map for the sounds in the Diverse Sounds folder.
