    Music Loops

Music Loops is a free collection of music loops and one-shot samples created by Monosounds and released by 99Sounds.

The free download link is located at the end of this article.

    FREE Music Loops & Samples

Music Loops by Monosounds and 99Sounds is a free and 100% royalty-free collection of electronic and hip-hop music loops, construction kits, MIDI loops, Serum Presets, and one-shot samples in WAV format.

Unlike most previous 99Sounds releases focused on cinematic sound design, sound effects, and field recordings, the Music Loops collection is geared toward music production.

The library contains over 700 MB of royalty-free content. The included sounds can be used for hip-hop, dance, and similar music styles.

All included files are labeled by key and tempo, so finding a loop that perfectly matches your current project is easy.

How to use these free music loops creatively

Royalty-free music loops can help you produce music faster and inspire you to explore new music genres and instruments.

Loops are also handy for creators who don’t have musical training or access to a wide range of musical instruments. You can use loops to quickly build a sketch that can serve as your music project’s foundation.

Is using royalty-free music loops cheating?

Whether or not using loops to create music can be considered “cheating” is an interesting topic.

I was long against using loops in my music projects. I felt that it would make my music less original, so I aimed to either play every instrument myself or make music with friends who play instruments better than me (drummers, guitarists, etc.).

However, as time went on, I discovered that some of my favorite pieces of music used loops as a starting point.

A famous example is the Clint Eastwood song by Gorillaz, built upon a loop preset from the Suzuki Omnichord preset.

Another example is Praise the Lord (Da Shine) from ASAP Rocky, which, believe it or not, uses a Garageband loop as its central theme.

The producer imported a Garageband loop to the project, added some drums, and thus created one of my all-time favorite hip-hop beats.

So, with those and many other examples, I realized that using loops isn’t cheating as long as they are used creatively to make an original piece of music.

In other words, if a music producer uses a loop creatively and creates an original piece of music, it’s completely fine in my book.

    How to use music loops

Music loops provide a foundation for musicians and producers to build upon. You can layer additional sounds, rhythms, and melodies to create a unique piece.

The use of royalty-free loops simplifies the production process, allowing you to focus on the creative process instead of building every musical element from scratch.

For example, if you’re a guitarist and not a drummer, you can play a guitar riff and then speed up the songwriting process by using a royalty-free drum loop to complete a section of your track.

If you’re new to music production, here’s a simple workflow for using royalty-free music loops in your DAW.

Begin by curating a collection of music loops, focusing on different genres and instruments you find inspiring. I organize my loops into folders by instrument type, but you can also manage them by music style or tempo.

Also, don’t be afraid to break down downloaded loop packs and pick only the ones you like. So, after downloading our Free Music Loops, listen to the included sounds, select your favorites, and organize them in your loops folder so they’re easy to find when you’re working on your next project.

Within your digital audio workstation (DAW), you can start by layering different loops, changing their pitch and tempo, or even reversing them to uncover unique combinations that work well together.

For example, I typically record an original synth part and then import several drum and percussion loops. I then chop and rearrange the drum loops, manipulate the pitch, and add different effects to build more complex drum sequences that complement my synth recording.

Consider layering loops from contrasting musical styles to forge unexpected combinations. You can also use effects like reverb, delay, and distortion to change the character of each loop.

Don’t hesitate to slice audio loops into smaller segments (called loop slices), rearranging these pieces to construct original rhythms or melodic patterns.

By continuously experimenting and refining your approach to working with music loops and VST plugins, you’ll develop a signature sound and custom techniques to make your music stand out.

I was browsing acoustic guitar loops before and now I can’t find where I was doing that.
