The Library
Sharing a similar theme with the previously released InterSpace and The Weird Side Samples sound libraries, Samples of Tenalach is yet another impressive collection of swooshes, noises, and otherworldly sonic textures from Introspectral’s interstellar sound design station.
Tenalach is an Old Irish word that is (according to some online sources) the equivalent of the English word hearth (a stone-lined fireplace). It has a deeper meaning, though.
As Introspectral puts it, “It (Tenalach) points to a relationship one has with the land/air/water, a deep connection that allows one to hear the Earth sing.”
Here’s how Introspectral describes the library:
“This pack is the third in a trilogy of sorts that started with “The Weird Side Samples,” followed by “InterSpace” and now ends with “Samples of Tenalach”.
Tenalach is a sonic adventure I composed during an intensive sound design week in the fall of 2014. I have now collected some of my favorite sounds from it and created this free sound pack.
The resulting sound library moves in the realms of the strangely mechanical and abstract, but at the same time, there is an organic quality that holds a sort of beauty and sense of contemplation and rest.”
The library is a state-of-the-art toolbox of futuristic sounds and noises that can be used as transition SFX in electronic music and as background sound effects in video games, movies, trailers, etc.
The Artist
Introspectral is also the author of the fantastic InterSpace and The Weird Sound Samples sample packs.
If you’re interested in finding out how Johan creates these mesmerizing sound effects in his Starsound Studio, you should definitely take a look at our Artist Spotlight interview with him.
In March this year, Introspectral released a track called Tenalach on his Bandcamp page (available on a pay-what-you-want basis), and Samples of Tenalach is a collection of one-shot sounds and textures used in that track.
Details
Samples of Tenalach contain 91 individual sounds organized into four categories. Each sound category has a corresponding instrument patch in NKI and SFZ format.
All sounds are recorded and crafted by Johan Ekelöf, aka Introspectral, at Starsound Studio. Kontakt script by 99Sounds. SFZ patches (compatible with Plogue Sforzando) by Avner M.
